What is Cansa?

Cansa is doing everything they can in the fight against cancer

The Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) is concerned with furthering cancer research, providing input in halth legislation and supporting anyone who suffers from or is affected by cancer.

The three main objectives of Cansa are to “research, educate and support”. Cansa funds a vast amount of South African cancer research and post the latest international research findings on their website.

They provide “stories of hope” and newsletters, and dispel cancer myths. With regard to support, they offer a free email-based course written by a cancer survivor to help other survivors cope better. They also have a CancerCare Coping kit (two audio CDs), which offers informational and practical tips for the recently diagnosed.

They offer individual counselling session as well as support groups, and support for children and families of cancer patients.

They provide wigs and wheelchairs, and offer free transport to and from cancer treatment centres.

They do online fundraising, as well as events such as Shavathons and Movember.
