Today in history: Springboks make a clean sweep at the IRB Awards

South African coach Jake White was named Coach of the Year and Boks won 'Team of the Year' after their Tri Nations success.

At the International Rugby Board (IRB) awards event in 2004, South Africa made a clean sweep to end one of the best seasons for the Springboks.

The event was held in London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on 29 November and South African flanker, Schalk Burger, was named IRB Player of the Year.

The IRB was founded in 1886, with its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. It is the international governing and law-making body for Rugby Union.
