VIN number stripped out in recovered vehicle
It is unclear whether the vehicle was being kept by the culprits in order to be transported across the border.
A black Nissan Navara, missing its VIN number, was recovered during the weekend in Weltevreden Park.
Local security and police were tipped-off about this vehicle which was hidden in a storage facility on the corner of JG Strydom and Springhaas Roads.
A security officer from BCI Security, Rudi Holtzhausen, said the vehicle was found at about 2pm on Sunday, 13 August, in a container behind an area which used to be a prominent car dealership.

“The guards allowed us in after we received a tip-off from a member of the public . The VIN number and tracking number of the vehicle had been stripped out,” Holtzhausen said.
It is unclear whether the vehicle was being held by the culprits in order to be transported across the border.
Police are still investigating the matter, and the Northsider will keep readers updated as information is released .
