UPDATE: Pipe jacking to start on Rugby Road in Weltrevreden Park

WELTEVREDEN PARK – The F46 Rand Water Project is continuing on Rugby Road but promises not to affect motorists on a large scale.

Pipe jacking is set to commence shortly at the intersection of Rugby Road and 9th Avenue in Weltevreden Park as part of the F46 Rand Water Project.

Barricading is already in place at this intersection, leaving a small section of the road closed off, and two lanes have already been created with temporary chevrons.

The road is barricaded off at the intersection of Rugby Road and 9th Avenue.

Motorists should take extra care when passing this area and should follow the new lanes created by the barriers.

For the process of pipe jacking, the project’s team do not have to close the road but will have to secure the entry points on either side of the jack. The jacking itself should not affect motorists at all.

Temporary chevrons and signs point to the two lanes created by the barricades.

Pipe jacking is the process of tunnelling under the road and pushing the new infrastructure – the water pipe –through the tunnel. This process is normally reserved for busy streets as it does not disturb the road surface.
