• 1926 – Sinclair Lewis refuses his Pulitzer Prize for Arrowsmith.
• 1941 – The first modern perfume, Chanel N°5 is introduced
• 1945 – Netherlands and Denmark are liberated from Nazi control
• 1979 – Voyager 1 passes Jupiter
• 2000 – Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are positioned in a line with the Sun
• 2012 – The last nuclear reactor in Japan is shut down
• 2015 – Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, announce the name of their baby girl, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana
