GALLERY: Wild West Country Fest a success

MULDERSDRIFT – Guests were transported back in time at Silverstar’s Wild West Country Fest.

Silverstar hosted a four day festival aimed at celebrating the area’s rich mining history of the late 1880’s by showcasing food from the era, gold panning sites, whiskey tasting, can-can dancing and local craft beers.

“During this period – and after a hard day on the mines – visitors to the area would congregate in grand beer halls and smokey whiskey saloons to share stories of the days past,” according to account manager Debbie Johnston.

The festival, aptly named Wild West Country Fest ran from 30 April to 3 May.

“We’re thrilled to be able to host ‘another lekker life experience!’ highlighting our rich history and heritage. We have been fortunate enough to receive input and historic memorabilia from Krugersdorp’s oldest residents as well as Mogale City Tourism which has ensured that the key details of the area’s history has been included,” says Shane Collinson, director of operations and the complex general manager at Silverstar.

Entertainment got everyone’s feet tapping. Conrad Cronje and Band, Madison, The Dixie Hillbillies and Georgetown set the main stage on fire with the hottest country rock entertainment.

Children enjoyed fun and games on the outside square as there was a mini amusement park on offer.

“This was so much fun. I enjoyed the beer and the music. My children had a time of their life here,” said parent Allison Moore.
