Graeme Watkins on 2014 and the year ahead
LINDEN – Local band GWP may release an international album next year.
Graeme Watkins discusses what the highlights were for the Graeme Watkins Project (GWP) this year, and what the band’s plans are for next year. The GWP is based in Linden, with Watkins residing in Northwold and lead guitarist Ryno Zeelie in Sundowner, bass player Rudo Pieterse in Linden and drummer Matthew Marinus in Honeydew. GWP mixes pop, indie, rock and electronic genres.

GWP has had a wonderful year and has been in what one might call a transition phase. We have been restructuring our goals and are rethinking what we
the band and management team want to achieve in the coming years. With an international deal on the cards with a well-known European label we have been thinking and writing along the lines of an international release in 2015.
Playing at #IheartJoburg has to be one of my highlights and getting the opportunity to play alongside six international acts is an opportunity not often afforded to local artists. So I guess those would be my highlights for 2014. We are currently in an ever-changing market, which is in itself a difficulty but poses so many new and exiting opportunities.
With us trying to break into the European market next year, most of our time and energy will be spent on that. So 2015 is going to be a year of hard work as far as GWP is concerned. We would also like to wish every one a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and all the best for the year to come.
