Meet Mr and Miss Maragon 2014

RUIMSIG - Maragon Private Schools crowned its lads and dames for 2014.

Yet again, Maragon Private Schools’ annual pageant proved to be the highlight of the school’s social calendar.

Their cruise ship sailed around the world with all their contestants representing different countries and keeping the judges intrigued with sparkling personalities on the ramp.

“The evening was amazing from beginning to end. The opening scene was a dance performed by the contestants, and a song On top of the World sung by the school choir,” the school’s marketing manager Belinda Espag explained.

She added that their teachers showed their humorous side with some of them taking to the ramp to represent different countries which she said was a bang. “Not only did they represent their country; they lived it out completely on the ramp. Wow, just shows you, our teachers are special.”

On the entertainment side, the hip hop crew from Mario’s Hip Hop Academy kept everyone glued to the stage with their extraordinary dance skills.

From the school’s junior grade, Kayla de Gouveia, was crowned Miss Pearl, and Kieran Mason Mr Pearl.

Both contestants said they enjoyed the experience because they had an opportunity to make friends, and it was an extremely fun experience.

In the senior category, second prince and princess went to Sheldon Goncalves Mpumi Jaca, while first prince and princess went to Connor de Wet and Kayla-Jayne Cameron, respectively.

Devon Redl and Lisa Tredoux were crowned Mr and Miss Maragon 2014.

They expressed how the whole experience taught them so much about themselves. “It helped us to believe in ourselves and to be prepared to take risks in life”.

They said that even if they had not won, it was the life lessons learned and boost of confidence that was obtained from the experience that they considered most important.

Redl and Tredoux both want to use their titles as a platform to make a difference in their community and to set an example to others.

Monica Aguiar was crowned Miss Photogenic. Douglas Macleod Elliott was crowned Mr Personality and Reem Koussa was crowned Miss Personality.
