Maragon Grade 5 pupil Mark Botros has achieved more that most at his young age.
Botros is the youngest pupil ever to achieve an e-learner computer Golden Certificate through Computers 4 Kids training centre, based in Krugersdorp. He was awarded the certificate upon passing the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence Course) Foundation-endorsed integrated ICT (information and computer technology) and digital literacy course. ECDL is the international standard in end-user computer skills.
Botros’s parents recognised his abilities and love for computers several years ago, and began investigating ways to further his studies. However, they encountered many obstacles – At present, Botros is a mere eleven-years-old and considered too young for higher education.
Despite his age, Boston College in the United Kingdom accepted him to study at their institution. He became the youngest person in history to be enrolled at Boston College.
Special arrangements were made for him to write his exam locally, which he wrote on 15 October. The allotted time for the exam was one hour and thirty five minutes. He finished the exam in an incredible 25 minutes and scored a phenomenal 81 percent.
