Wynand Mulder helping Witpoortjie one gym at a time

Wynand Mulder, a local boxer, will be back in the ring in the Witpoortjie area from 1 September.

Wynand, a pro-boxing champion, took some well-deserved time off after his last fight against Roake Knapp in August 2018. He achieved his professional boxing licence nine years ago, and has now decided to open his very own gym in the area.

The gym will be opening on 1 September, in the Quinton Painter building, next to Del Forno. It will be open from 5am to 8.30pm and will be offering a variety of training to suit young and old.

But, this will only be the start. Wynand is looking to expand in the future and also add a dance studio, a MMA (mixed martial arts) centre and much more. He is not just planning to provide a training facility, he wants to create careers for the Witpoortjie community.

“I really want the community to join the studio and let me help them achieve their goals in whatever type of sport they are doing. Who knows, maybe the next cross-fit super star or the next boxing champion is right here in Witpoortjie,” Wynand said.
