The Record has, in line with police protocol and the Press Code, made various attempts to get comment from Florida Police regarding an alleged vigilante incident that took place on 1 August.

One of the police spokespersons was on holiday and calls to the two alternative numbers that were provided were not answered and voice mails were left.
The incident in question allegedly occurred at the Jerusalem informal settlement. According to Florida CPF chairperson, Riaz Jogee residents of the settlement witnessed two men robbing an Uber driver of her cellphone. They then took matters into their own hands and beat the men up. One allegedly died while the other was hospitalised.
