Under-privileged receive clothing
African National Congress Youth League leads by example
“Winter could be the worst season if you do not have any clothes covering your back. This why we as the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) are gathered here to distribute clothes to less fortunate people,” said ANC Youth League Chairperson for Ward 84 Lerato Mkubukeli.
They had collected about 300 items of clothing and about 50 pairs of shoes and by the end of the day not a single item of clothing or a pair of shoes was left.

“We are very happy to help where we can. Today we witnessed the huge need here in Roodepoort – people are suffering, but together we can do more to help others. This is the reason why I joined the ANCYL, because I wanted to be the change that people need. I also wanted to change the image of the ANC within my community. I wanted more career opportunities to grow. I am now the Ward 84 chairperson,” said ANC youth league chairperson, Lerato Mkubukeli.
“Our objectives are to unite and lead young men and women in confronting and dealing with the problems faced by the youth, and to ensure that the youth make a full and rich contribution to the work of the ANC and the life of the nation,” she added.
