National Handbag Day
Show your love for this fashion accessory on #NationalHandbagDay
10 October is National Handbag Day, a day created to celebrate all the different types of handbags.
This day doesn’t only recognise the importance of handbags in daily life, or that they are essential fashion items to have in your closet – it acknowledges them as a simple way to make a style statement.
Handbags come in many shapes and sizes, from the size of an envelope to almost as large as an overnight bag. They’re available in every imaginable solid colour, and also in different designs – from leopard and zebra prints to calfskin and rhinestones. This means that there literally is a handbag for every taste and style!
Although handbags are seen as mainly women’s accessories, in the early 1900s, the term ‘handbag’ was used to refer to men’s hand baggage.
This unofficial holiday was created by Purseblog.com in 2013 and encourages people to share photos of their handbags and show their love for this fashion accessory on social media sites.
To celebrate, go out and get that high-end handbag you’ve been eyeing the whole year. If your handbag is a place where things tend to get lost (almost like the Bermuda Triangle), use this day to clean it out and re-organise it.
Show your style and take photos with your favourite handbags and post them on social media using #NationalHandbagDay.
