Taxi and car collide killing one, injuring 14
On inspection, paramedics found one man lying lifeless inside the taxi.
One man was killed and 14 others were injured on the morning of 10 October, when a taxi and a light motor vehicle collided at the intersection of Main Reef and Westlake Roads in Florida.
Paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg West branch, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the taxi lying on its side in the slipway. The light motor vehicle was found in the middle of the intersection.
On inspection, paramedics found one man lying lifeless inside the taxi. Assessments showed that the man had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
On further inspection, paramedics found 14 other patients on the scene, with injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The paramedics treated them and then transported them to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.
The exact cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
