It is with great disappointment that I am writing this letter. We live in Cabot Street, Lindhaven directly opposite the park and Davidsonville. For the last two months twice a week we have been having load shedding for eight to 10 hours at a time.
We’ve also noted that at times Davidsonville also had load shedding and the area has been in total darkness. Coming home from a hard day’s work and wanting to do the norm like cooking, bathing, etc. on Monday evening 4 April 2016 another major set- back the residents of Lindhaven had to endure and that is no water for a few hours, now we had water cuts. What next? We have elderly folk that are living on machines to keep them alive, babies in our areas that need milk, small children in some households that needs to eat and bath and consumers that cannot afford alternatives such as gas cylinders, gas stoves, etc. due to the huge electricity and water tariffs we need to pay.
Money needs to be forked out to buy take-aways people having to discard some of their food kept in their fridges due to load shedding. We as the Lindhaven residents would like to know what Gert Niemand, Suzanne Clarke and Carl Mann (I trust that these names are correct) as I always read how they assist the communities with their service delivery challenges can do to put an end to this ongoing torture we need to face.
I have many friends living around the Lindhaven area and they have load shedding at a bare minimum. The other morning while we were driving to work on the Radio 702 news one of the reporters mentioned that there has not been load shedding in a while what a lie. Please do not believe this as it could be a ”camouflage” to win over votes for the next election. I think that we as the Lindhaven residents needs to take a stand against the ”authorities” that decides when, how and what they can deprive the Lindhaven residents from.
We refuse to accept the ”lame” excuses such as the cables burnt. How can the cables burn twice a week?Does this even make sense? It seems that there is a third problem where some of the residents are having problems with their geysers not heating. This happens with the load shedding interruptions.
