Roodepoort theatre comes to life through ballet
The Theatre was almost packed to the brim with children and adults waiting impatiently for the show to start.
As the lights dimmed and the music slowly faded into existence, the crowd whispered in an almost audible voice, as they anticipated the ultimate ballet and contemporary dance experience.
Famous characters from Beatrix Potter’s stories were brought to life by The Ovation Youth Dance Company who took to the Roodepoort Theatre stage this weekend to showcase the performance.
Peter Rabbit, Mr Jeremy Fischer and Mrs Tiggywinkle were just a few characters that revived the stage.
One of the dancers, Saskia Hinsberger, 18, who started dancing since she was six-years-old was bubbling with joy as she expressed her excitement for being part of the show.
“After hearing from a friend that auditions for the show were open, I could not allow the opportunity to pass me by,” she said ecstatically.
It was evident from the applause given off by the crowd after every act, that the performances were spectacular.
