Rainy and stormy weather paves way for older, weaker trees in Roodepoort to topple over as was the case with a tree that fell into Poplar Street, Lindhaven.
The record was called out to Poplar Street where the toppled tree blocked one lane of the two-lane street on Tuesday afternoon 11 November.
A special 24-hour standby unit exists to deal with these toppled trees said Joburg City Parks spokesperson Jenny Moodley.
“The unit can be called out to where trees are blocking roads, it is their job to move a tree that is obstructing traffic in order to ensure the safety of pedestrians, commuters and motorists,” Moodley said.
The 24-hour unit can be contacted on 011 375 5555 to report obstructions.
