Ngcobo secures draw for ‘Amajita’
The South African Men’s U20 soccer team, 'Amajita', drew their first match of their West African tour.
Dikgang Ngcobo came off the bench to help the South African Men’s U20 National Team to a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso in an international friendly match played on Wednesday evening in Ouagadougou.
The second half substitute found the back of the net a mere five minutes from coming off the bench, to equalise for Amajita just before the hour mark.
The home side had taken the lead six minutes from the break after defender Aubrey Maphosa was adjudged to have handled inside the box.
Jean Emmanuel Zongo slotted home from the penalty spot, sending Jethren Barr the wrong way.
This was South Africa’s first match of four on the tour of West Africa.
On Thursday, 24 July the squad travels to Bamako for a date with Mali on Saturday, 26 July.
The remaining two matches will be against Senegal in Dakar and Ivory Coast in Abidjan.
