Comedian and actor Adam Sandler turns 53 today.

Adam Richard Sandler was born on 9 September 1966 in Brooklyn, New York. He was born to Judith Levine, a nursery school teacher, and Stanley Alan Sandler, an electrical engineer.

Adam is of Russian-Jewish descent and took his first step towards fame at the age of 17. Adam spontaneously took to the stage at a Boston Comedy club and found that he was a natural comedic talent.

He graduated from New York University in 1991 with a Fine Arts degree. While studying there, he performed regularly at clubs and universities as a way to practice his stand-up skills. During his freshman year, he managed to get the role of Smitty, the Huxtable family’s friend on The Cosby Show.

Adam was then cast in the show Saturday Night Live in 1990 after receiving a recommendation from Dennis Miller (talk show host) who had seen him perform.He went on to star in several successful movies such as Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Grown Ups and many, MANY more.He has also had several of his songs placed on the Billboard charts, including The Chanukah Song.

Golden Globe winner, Michelle Williams and contemporary Christian singer, Lauren Daigle were also born today.
