Joint operation yields positive results

A number of drugs were seized, including CAT, heroin and dagga, plus about 60 syringes.

Three people, aged between 24 and 38, were arrested on Friday, 10 May, in two separate incidents.

The suspects were arrested for crimes including possession of drugs and unlicensed ammunition in a special crime prevention operation conducted by the Florida Crime Prevention Unit, the West Rand K9 Unit, sector managers, the Florida Police station commander, the Florida Management Information Centre commander, Security Forum members and various Blockwatch members.

During the joint operation, a foreign national was found with drugs in a flat on Goldman Street, in the Florida Central Business District, another was found immediately after buying drugs, and the third suspect was found with unlicensed 9mm ammunition at Rand Leases.

A number of drugs were seized, including CAT, heroin, and dagga, plus about 60 syringes. Together, these items have an estimated street value of about R193 000.

The suspects will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon on charges of dealing in drugs, possession of drugs and possession of unlicensed ammunition.
