Floroma Old Age Home will be hosting its annual mini fete on 1 May and is inviting the community to join them for a fun-filled day.
According to Natasha Calitz, a member of the Fundraising Committee, “The fete forms part of our fundraising initiatives to raise money for a variety of projects which cannot be funded from the normal day-to-day expenditures.”
She added that this year’s main focus will be to raise money to upgrade the general security of the home and to procure a generator for the Frail Care Centre. “The Home does not have an emergency generator and with the current instability of the power grid, has experienced challenges in supplying back-up power to the Frail Care Centre and kitchen.”
Natasha said that the committee was relying on the the community to open their hearts and support these initiatives through donations and by giving their time.
“On the day, there will be a variety of food stalls, including pancakes, pudding, cakes, vetkoek and mince, as well as boereworsrolls. Visitors can also look forward to the usual jumble sale and White Elephant table.
We will also be selling raffle tickets, where beautiful prizes can be won, including porcelain dolls, animal prints on canvas, knitted blankets and much more,” Natasha concluded.
