Mining contract applied for on Albertina Sisulu/ Main Reef Road
A public meeting will be held at Hoërskool Bastion on 5 April at 5pm
West Wits Mining Company has applied for an opencast mine strip alongside Albertina Sisulu Road and affected parties are invited to participate in the environmental impact assessment.
The land runs next to the suburbs of Florida Lake, Hamberg, Georginia, Creswell Park, Roodepoort CBD, Matholesville and down towards Witpoortjie.
All stakeholders are invited to register as Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) if they would like more information or wish to participate in the environmental impact assessment.
Public meetings will be held on:
3 April at 11am, in the Goudrand Hostel Hall, Sol Plaatje
Directions to the venue: From Randfontein Road, turn into Nick Toomey Boulevard then turn left into the third road.
3 April at 5pm, in the E-Hall, Matholesville
Directions to the venue: From Randfontein Road, turn into Nick Toomey Boulevard then turn into the first road on the right and then right again into the second road.
4 April at 5pm, at Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk – Culembeeck, Address: 27 Koeberg St, Witpoortjie, Roodepoort, 1724
5 April at 5pm, at the Multi-Purpose Centre, 6732 Loerblaar Avenue, Braamfischerville
6 April at 5pm, at the Moses Kotane Primary School, on the corner of Unity Boulevard and Freedom Drive, Braamfischerville
Initial comments for inclusion can be submitted in the scoping report at the public scoping meetings or by 6 April.
