Unique wares for Walter Sisulu Winter Market

Families enjoyed a day out in nature at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens Winter Market.

Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens was the venue for a variety of unique stalls at their recent Winter Market.

Members of the community were invited to stroll through the different food and craft stalls, and enjoy a picnic in nature on 5 August. Families could learn more about bees and spiders at the Tutus Loco Be Hotels stall, or eat to their heart’s content with a number of food stalls, selling everything from boerewors rolls to ice cream. Activities such as sand art and crafts were available to keep the little ones occupied.

Marketing and Communications Director of the gardens, Ronny Tshabalala, explained that the gardens hold this kind of market to give the community an opportunity to buy products that are not available at mainstream retailers, and give vendors the chance to sell their wares.

Although the sunny, pleasant weather was contradictory of the ‘Winter Market’ theme, it made the day even more enjoyable, and families were able to spend the whole day at the gardens.
