Unique concert for Organ funds

Raising funds for community church

Music-al-Matters will be hosting a concert in an effort to raise funds for the Organ Fund of the Community Church of Roodepoort West.

Gordon Woods from Music-al-Matters said they are passionate about music and music education, and presenting the annual West Rand Music Festival, to benefit those studying music and wishing to perform live.

“The organ, a mechanical device with massive pipes, is a unique and majestic instrument, and it would be absolute sacrilege to see this musical engineering marvel fall into disrepair because of a lack of funding for much-needed maintenance.

That’s why Music-al-Matters became involved and are putting this amazing repertoire together, which promises to have something on stage for everyone in the community.”

The organ is a three-manual mechanical organ, with thirty-three live registers and two thousand, three hundred pipes, and was built by Fehrle & Roeleveld.

Tdrinda Woods will be on-stage, playing the marimba, the resident organist, Wikus van Wyk, will perform on the organ and Marlene Botha will entertain the audience on the piano. There will also be vocal choirs and soloists. This guarantees the perfect evening filled with beautiful music. Delicious eats will also be available.

“Is there a better way to kick off Spring and do the right thing at the same time, than supporting this most worthy cause?” added Gordon.

The event will take place on 9 September at 6pm. Tickets can be booked at the church office.
