One dead and one injured in Maraisburg accident
Driver sustained only minor injuries
One man was killed and another injured on the afternoon of 2 August, when the bakkie and trailer they were travelling in overturned on the N1 South, near the Maraisburg offramp.
According to Russel Meiring, ER24’s spokeperson, paramedics arrived at the scene at approximately 12.20pm and found the bakkie and trailer lying on their sides next to the road. “The body of a man believed to be in his 30s was lying a short distance away. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries. The man showed no signs of life, and sadly had to be declared dead on scene,” said Meiring.

Paramedics assessed the other man, believed to be the driver of the bakkie, who had only sustained minor injuries. He was treated for his injuries and transported to a nearby hospital for further care. “It is understood that the vehicle overturned, throwing the deceased off the back,” Meiring said.
Local authorities were on scene to conduct further investigations.
