Positive message on Youth Day

Youth Day is one of the biggest public holidays in South Africa and serves to commemorate the youth uprising of 1976.

The Roodepoort Police Social Crime Prevention Unit celebrated Youth Day by addressing the Roodepoort community. Constable Shumikazi Mbuli, accompanied by various local social organisations, visited the people of Durban Deep.

The event was held at the Nkgodise Day Care Centre and a variety of speakers touched on topics of importance to the youth, such as drug abuse, theft and crime. The following day, Warrant Officer Prinsloo visited Divine Ministries in Witpoortjie. She spoke about human trafficking, which has been on the rise in South Africa.
