Elderly couple assaulted during armed robbery in Wilro Park
Only small valuables stolen.
Yesterday evening (2 March) an elderly couple was assaulted during an armed robbery in Kiepersol Street, Wilro Park.
The two armed suspects allegedly scaled the fence at about 7.20pm and then threw a rock through a window in order to gain access to the house. Once inside they assaulted the couple and tied them up in the master bedroom. They then proceeded to ransack the house and fled with small valuables such as jewellery, cellphones and a tablet. Fearing that the robbers might still be in the house they waited an hour before the woman screamed. A neighbour heard her and contacted DMS Security who sent out a reaction unit vehicle.
Roodepoort Police opened a case on the premises. ER24 treated the couple, who did not want to go to hospital, on the scene.
