CKPS tennis serves an ace

Tennis players excel

Hard work, dedication and discipline have led six Constantia Kloof Primary School tennis players to glory.

Caitlyn de Ponte, Jayden Katemba and Kelly Bevis were selected to represent the Western Tennis District Association in the U/14 age category, while Antonio de Ponte, Brayden Cronje and Ethan Katemba are in the U/12 age category.

The six players qualified for the association in November last year, at the district trials hosted at the Noordheuwel Country Club. The association recently faced off against the North West and Northern Cape district teams. The goal for the players is to be selected for the Central Gauteng team.

“I am very excited to be part of the team as this gives me a chance to improve on my skills and be a better player,” said Kelly. Her sentiments were echoed by Jayden, who has been playing tennis for seven years. “I felt immense joy to be selected to be a member of the team.”

Caitlyn believes that representing the district is an opportunity to perfect her tennis skills. “I also want to make our coach Jennifer Ash proud of us. Tennis is also a team sport, not just an individual sport.”
