JRA aims to keep traffic flowing during festive season
JRA to remain fully operational during holiday season ensuring road maintenance and traffic signal repairs
Residents of Roodepoort and surrounding areas will not have to worry about traffic signals being repaired and roads being maintained during the festive season.
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) will continue to serve residents during the holiday season and ensure all faulty traffic signals are attended to, and maintain the roads and other related infrastructure.
The Managing Director of the JRA, Dr Sean Phillips, said, “The JRA will be fully operational during the festive season. On the public holidays – 25, 26 and 27 December as well as on 1 and 2 January – special standby teams will be on call to attend to any emergencies that may occur city-wide.”
To ensure traffic signals are up and running across the seven regions of the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) there will be 11 traffic signal repair teams on standby. There will also be seven Regional Maintenance and Standby teams available during this period to undertake normal maintenance work (during weekdays) and emergency work after hours, and during public holidays and weekends.
To ensure these services are rendered to residents throughout the CoJ, every region has been made aware of these arrangements.
The JRA is encouraging residents and councillors to alert it to any road-related problems – including emergencies – via its contact points, namely the CoJ’s call centre (0860 562 874), JRA’s Twitter page (@MyJRA) or by sending an email to hotline@jra.co.za.
Residents can also log their queries on the following direct telephone numbers for Region C:
– Normal maintenance: Erick Tshikhudo on 071 085 1617
– Standby (Emergency): William Maphiri on 082 556 0860
All maintenance and standby operations will be overseen by Stanley Vilakazi, who can be contacted on 082 330 1611. Residents can contact Arie du Toit on 082 561 4920 for all traffic signal and traffic engineering queries and emergencies.
