Security guards in the making

WILGEHEUWEL – Mjolnir Learning Centre pupils' hard work pays off.

With crime statistics going up every day in South Africa, we are in desperate need of good and dedicated security guards that could help combat it.

The Mjolnir Learning Centre in Weltevreden Park is a tutor-centre, dedicated to helping children with learning difficulties. Apart from learning maths, science and languages, three pupils from this centre were very chuffed on 2 May, when they received their E Grade security certificate.

To make this achievement even more special, the BCI Protection Services paid a visit to the centre to hand over the certificates to the young precipitants. Arno Dorfling from BCI congratulated the three pupils. According to Roan Coetzee from BCI, an E Grade is an entry level to the security course.

Security coordinator for the centre, Erica Steyn is responsible for the tutoring of the security course. She explained that the pupils are now busy with Grade D. “Remember you must only go forward from here,” encouraged Coetzee.

Steyn said that she is very proud of the pupils and knows that is a huge achievement for the pupils. She hopes that all of them will make it to Grade A that means that they can then work as a security guard.
