Maragon’s own Comrades stars

RUIMSIG – Maragon's own teachers awarded medals for their accomplishments in the Comrades.

Three of Maragon Ruimsig’s teachers braved the 89km Comrades Marathon with 22 000 other runners from all over the world.

“This year, on 29 May, it was a downward run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. There is no doubt that this race is not for the faint-hearted,” said Maragon’s marketing coordinator, Gaynor Gouws.

Teacher, Harry Bateman, has now successfully completed his eighth Comrades and received a bronze medal. Christine Herbst and Nicole Webb completed their second consecutive Comrades and for this, they received a back-to-back medal.

Herbst also received a bronze medal and Webb received a Bill Rowan medal for completing the race in under nine hours. “The Comrades will always be a challenge but at the same time it is an amazing accomplishment of which I am very proud,” said Herbst.

“Maragon teachers continue to excel in the sporting arena and are truly an inspiration to us all,” Gouws added.
