Wrestlers go hard at Big Bang

The number one contender for the WWP All African Heavyweight Championship title was going up against Ultimate Nathan and Masonic Crisis.

The Newlands community was treated to some fine entertainment as the Big Bang as the first African Punishment Wrestling Association (APWA) event of the year kicked off.

The night started with number one contender for the WWP All African Heavyweight Championship title going up against Ultimate Nathan and Masonic Crisis.

On the line was who will submit to whom as the old generation took on the new generation and a two versus one handicap match.

Renegade showed his experience and came out on top and this means he will not be the leader and mentor to not only Ultimate Nathan and Masonic Crisis but to their crew members Zavier Riddle and Stephen Smith.

The following match was a tag team battle between Inyanga and Jasmine who took on Mia and Black Widow.

For most of the match, Inyanga and Jasmine were on the back foot as they were beated ragged around the ring. However, a bit on ingenuity from Inyanga to pin Mia for a quick count was all that was needed for the victory.

But this only served to incense an astounded Mia and Black Widow who sneaked up on the unsuspecting victorious duo and delivered a power bomb to dash any hint of celebration. Loudmouth was up next battled against homeboy Super X, one half of the tag team champions.

Loudmouth was accompanied to the ring by Durban Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion and and APWA Champion John Axl and the two of them incensed the crowd with their antics in and outside the ring.

Axl interfered with the match when the referee was looking away and the crowd was up in arms.

Loudmouth in his fury at having not pinned his opponent took his fury out on the referee which led to him being disqualified, handing the victory to Super X.

However, this is not where it ended as Loudmouth and John Axl teamed up to beat up Super X until he needed help to exit the ring.

Up next into the ring was Kyle KO Ripley who took on double champion John Axl.

This time it was Loudmouth’s turn to accompany John Axl to the ring.

Axl showed off his superior skills in the ring, with Ripley on the ropes for most of the match but his refusal to give up and his determination fired up the crowd who were behind him all the way.

However, once again some underhanded tactics from Axl while Loudmouth distracted the referee.

This gave Axl the chance to use his title belt to knock out Ripley before the referee could see anything.

Axl pinned his opponent for the victory.

The main event for the night and the one which proved to be the most electrifying match of the night was WWP All African Heavyweight Champion Zizou Middoux taking on Hotaru, the other half of the tag team championship.

It was a technical affair as the two wrestlers probed each other with some arm locks which looked at times to be a mixture of ballet and gymnastics as they tried to out-maneuver one another.

However, as the match was reaching its climax with neither opponent refusing to give up, the Renegade along with his newly acquired crew interfered in the match by beating Hotaru until his tag team partner Super X came to his aid.

The referee thought this was in order to help Zizou and he was promptly disqualified, handing the victory to Hotaru.

However, this outcome did not satisfy the crowd who called for a match between the tag champions Super X and Hotaru to take on Renegade and Zizou.

Ananzi, the owner of the association agreed to the match.

As this was the final match of the night, fans were up on their feet as the match continued.

It ended with the tag teams prevailing Hotaru pinned Renegade for the win.

If you want to see these wrestlers in action, join them at Laerschool Florida at the shooting range field on the 26 of February.
