Meet-and-greet event at Dios Los Ninos

WILGEHEUWEL – Meet-and-greet gives parents the opportunity to meet teachers, pupils and parents.

The Dios Los Ninos School annual meet-and-greet event took place on 30 January in the school premises at Wilgeheuwel.

Lucky draws and other ice-breaker games were part of the day.

Principal Leonie de Kock said they arrange the ceremony in the beginning of each year.

She said it gives parents the opportunity to meet all the teachers as well as other parents.

De Kock added that the school has a Parents Teachers Students Association (PTSA), as they don’t have prefects or a governing body.

This gives parents an opportunity to get involved in activities and to share ideas with the teachers.

She said, “The main idea of the PTSA is for parents to have a voice as well as help with our fundraising events.”

De Kock said every year, four pupils get chosen to serve as PTSA members.

“They are the voices for all the pupils at meetings and assist teachers at all the events,” she said.

De Kock continued that they are proud to announce that this is their ninth year of existence and they have many events coming up, the first as soon as Valentine’s Day on 14 February and leap year on 29 February.

The school caters mainly for pupils with special needs and the use of domesticated animals has provided the pupils with the opportunity to learn in a calm and relaxed manner.
