Diwali means light. The celebration marks the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and goodness over evil. The Hindu community light lamps around their homes ensuring that fortune and the Goddess Luxmi visits. Fireworks light up the sky and gifts are exchanged. It is also a time when families and friends come together and exchange well wishes for a joyous Diwali.
