Ark Animals Centre gets rocked

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Rockers and lovers of furry friends all united in a jam- packed day of band performances at the Rumours Lounge.

Rumours Lounge rocked out in aid of the Ark Animal Centre on 7 March.

Bands of all sorts of genres performed on the day for absolutely no fee. Fans and music enthusiasts turned out in their hundreds to support the great event.

From raffles of CDs, hampers and so much more, the event was a great success. In an interview with a band, Revery, the members said, “It was amazing to perform today. [We} love doing something great for a charity.”

Steve Greenwood, organiser of the event, said the turnout was outstanding.

“People were more than happy to donate toward this charity after seeing the adorable faces on the Ark banner set up outside,” Greenwood added.

Burning Blue was the band that initiated the event as their late band member Cheynne Holloway loved and greatly supported Ark Animal Centre, therefore participating in the event in memory of her love and passion for the centre.

They said, “Special thanks to all the musicians who performed for free – without you guys we simply could not have done this.”

Greenwood said they received donations of everything, from diabetic dog food to rubber chew toys, blankets and yummy goodies.

“We collected a total of R13 401.70 for Ark Animal Centre yesterday, along with a bakkie boot-full of toys and food. The enigmatic Vaughn Richards (Rumours resident) managed to collect R1 000 in our donation box with his whimsical whims and colourful hair,” said Greenwood.
