Taxi pile-up injures passengers
METRO – Multiple patients were being transported to various hospitals, following a seven-taxi pile-up in Johannesburg CBD.
Multiple patients were laying down on pavements and on the road, following a seven-taxi pile-up at Wolmarans and Klein streets in Johannesburg Central on 19 January.
“It happened this morning, but most people who got injured are from three taxis who bumped each other,” said EMS Spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi, adding that most patients were treated on scene while others were transported to various hospitals.
ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found several bystanders in the area.
ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said,”Taxis were badly damaged, patients were assessed, 22 patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate – they were treated and transported to local hospitals.”
The road has been closed to traffic.
