Two suspects caught, third one flees

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Police apprehend two out of three suspects and they are still on the lookout for the third suspect.

Quick response from Beagle Watch Security and Honeydew Police helped to catch two suspects in Soetdoring Avenue.

According to Jakes Shakung, operations manager of the security company, one of the neighbours in Soetdoring Avenue noticed three suspects jumping across his wall into his neighbour’s yard. “The man immediately phoned us and a police officer from Honeydew Police and one of our response officers arrived on the scene a couple of minutes later.”

He added that three men broke into a house in the street through a window next to the front door. “They used a stone that helped them to smash the window and as soon as they entered the premises, the alarm went off.”

Shakung explained when the officer arrived, one of the suspects fled and jumped over a wall and he added that the police and the security company are still on the lookout for the suspect. “The man must have had a cut on his hand and if anyone spots a suspicious man walking around in the area they should immediately call the police.”

He said that the two remaining suspects surrendered immediately when they saw the police and the response officer. “Luckily, no one was home when they broke in, as these criminals tend to be quite ruthless.”

Shakung added that he was shocked to see how young the two apprehended suspects were. “I think they are in their early twenties, it’s sad to see that young people are turning to crime instead of going out to look for jobs.”

He concluded and said, “The suspects are now at the Honeydew Police where they will be processed by the police.”
