Florries to collect for Fora

Hoërskool Florida pupils created posters enticing residents to support Fora's cause this April.

According to Linda Deane, her daughter Christina Margetts (17) and other Grade 11 pupils from Hoërskool Florida have lauched a charity campaign, collecting blankets for Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora).

Margetts and her friend Kaycee Mae Dawes (17) created posters for this project in April. Their aim is to collect funds and supplies for Fora that is based in Luipaardsvlei, Krugersdorp. The non-profit organisation is a pro-life haven for dogs and cats. The organisation lost a lot of its supplies and assets during heavy rains earlier the year. Their premises was flooded.

The girls’ poster reads, “Please donate an old blanket, food and money or any of the above to help abandoned dogs and cats this winter”. They plan to collect items such as blankets, cat and dog food, cat litter, cleaning materials and disinfectants on Friday 4 April said Deane.

“They’ll be at the traffic lights at the Clearwater Mall intersection on Hendrik Potgieter Road to collect whatever animal products residents can donate.”

The pupils also will accept other donations at other times by prior arrangement.

For more information on their mission, contact either Christina on 079 656 1703 or Kaycee on 071 166 9951.
