The Record caught up with its front page girl of 8 March 2013, Anest Myburgh (19) to ask her how she plans on supporting Cansa’s Shavathon this year.
On the front page of the print edition of 8 March 2013 , Myburgh sported four ponytails and a big smile as she set off on her ‘mane’ mission to donate her long locks to Cansa. At the VIP Stylists hair salon in Ruimsig on Saturday 2 March the locks went flying and she walked out with a shaved head.
A total of three stylists had helped her on her mane mission, including VIP Stylists business partner Johan van der Westhuizen. Myburgh donated 30 centimetres worth of healthy locks in 2013. However, with her hair not close to the standard 22 centimetre donation length this year, what is she doing next?
“It doesn’t matter,” she told the Record, still passionate about what Cansa is achieving with their Shavathon drive that is growing each year.
“This year, I think I’ll have it sprayed and donate some money towards the cause. Who knows, I might even buy the Cansa Wrap.”
For more information on the Shavathon, contact Ronél Vermaak at the Cansa West Rand office on 011 768 4342 or 082 469 7793. Alternatively, visit www.shavathon.org.za.
