Police spend their 67 minutes in Zandspruit
Less fortunate members of the Zandspruit community recently received necessities from the Honeydew Police and Honeydew Community Policing Forum on Nelson Mandela Day.
The Honeydew police, as well as the Honeydew Community Policing Forum, celebrated Nelson Mandela Day by dedicating 67 minutes of their time to needy children in Zandspruit.
The Honeydew Station Commander Brigadier Wayne Sirkhot accompanied the group on their tour and interacted with residents in the informal settlement.
Blankets, clothing, toys and fire extinguishers were handed out to residents as part of the police’s service to the community.
“Children at the Zandspruit Clinic were surprised to see police officers dressed in uniform coming to hand out knitted blankets and beanies, but accepted the donations with lots of joy,” said Honeydew police communications officer Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs.
