Pupils clean up streets for Madiba

Educators praise Horizon View pupils for hard work.

Pupils from Horizon View Primary School spent their 67 minutes honouring former President Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday by cleaning up the streets.

On Thursday 18 July the Record was invited to capture them in action as they were involved in all kinds of activities. Some took to the field playing rugby and cricket, while others got their hands dirty in the yard picking up papers.

Educators praised all pupils and were happy to see them involved in community work. The senior students received extra appreciation, having donated food, toys and clothes to orphans of the Princess informal settlement.

The educators urge the public to donate/ get involved in the community for 67 minutes and wished Madiba a speedy recovery.
