Toastmasters Club welcome new committee

Seven members inducted for new year.

The Bacon & Eggs Toastmasters Club held an induction breakfast to welcome its new committee for the 2013/ 2014 year at Meet & Eat on Saturday 13 July.

According to the newly appointed vice-president of Public Relations, Glen Campbell, “We all braved the icy morning to welcome our new committee in what was the first meeting of our new year”.

The new committee is as follows:

• President – Jerry Mathata (The club’s chief executive officer, managing director, cheerleader and coach)

• VP Education – Graham Shirley (Chief scheduler and primary expert on education awards, speech contests and the mentoring programme)

• VP Membership – Nicole Do Espirito Santo (The club’s number one recruiter, who manages the process of brining in guests and transforming them into members)

• VP Public Relations – Glen Campbell (The club’s link with the public, responsible for brining the club and its activities to the public’s attention)

• Treasurer – Elaine O’Gorman (The club’s chief accountant)

• Secretary – Angelica Thomas (The club’s primary note taker and record keeper)

• Sergeant at Arms – Janien Boucher (Custodian of the club’s physical assets and person responsible for the logistics of each club meeting)

Highlights of the morning included the award ceremony that saw Sharon Baumgart walk away with the award for Best Evaluator; Casey, who received the award for best speaker on Table Topics and Derric Uuh Ndim who received an award for winning Speech of the Day – Self Control.

Glen once again pointed out that a Toastmasters Club meeting is place to start a great journey that holds a lot of potential for you, not just for speaking skills, but also with leading and confidence.
