Grizzlies brave weather conditions on open day

Wet conditions did not stop the Western Hockey Club from hosting their official mini hockey open day on Saturday, 29 February at Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge.
The turnout was impressive despite the bad weather. The rain had eased and the lightning moved further to the east of Johannesburg when the young Grizzlies took to the grounds to polish their hockey skills.
The open day kicked off at 8.30am for the U/5s and U/9s who took advantage of the cloudy conditions to pose a challenge to their opponents.

The U/11s to U/13s had their turn on the turf from 8.30am till 10am. Having played the sport for longer they quickly showed what they have learnt from their very involved coaches.
“We had a great turnout to the start to the season. If you missed out on account of the weather, don’t stress. We will be here at Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge next week from 8.15am to 10am,” said Tracy Westhock from the Western Hockey Club.
Western Hockey Club is based in Roodepoort and the hockey section is open to anyone from U/5 up to U/16.
