Police are investigating a case of murder after a 24-year-old man was stabbed to death in the early hours of Sunday, 1 March, at a popular club in Cosmo City.
Douglasdale Police spokesperson, Captain Kgaoswane, confirmed that a case of murder was opened at the station; however, no arrests have been made yet.
It was confirmed that the incident took place at Platinum Lounge, an establishment off Malibongwe Drive, during a concert that a large number of people attended.

Management of the establishment released a lengthy statement on their Facebook page conveying their condolences, while explaining what happens when revellers unite in one venue to enjoy a concert.
The statement, quoted verbatim, read, “It is very unfortunate and hard felt sadness that one of our guests at Platinum during an event in the early hours of Sunday morning, lost his life during an alleged argument that broke out in the venue. May his soul rest in peace.”
It continued to warn people to report any suspicious activities to their security personnel.

“As Platinum Lounge we urge our guests that if you see someone behaving suspiciously or you need to report something being stolen, you should know who to turn to. Do not take matters into your own hands.
“We have security personnel within the venue at all times. Keep those security guards in your sights for the night, just in case something suspicious is going on that could jeopardize someone’s safety.”
However, some revellers apparently weren’t satisfied with the manner in which the entire incident was handled. One suggested that the concert hadn’t been halted; it continued as if nothing had happened.
An individual believed to be managing the venue was contacted for further comment; however, he was upset that the incident was to be published. During the telephone call, he alluded that he was only dealing with the family and police privately and that this matter had nothing to do with the media – this despite having published a lengthy statement on Facebook detailing the incident.
Kgaoswane concluded by appealing to anyone with information that might assist the police with the investigation to contact Douglasdale Police Station on 011 699 1300, 011 6991333 or 08600 10111, or to visit the nearest police station.
