Welties happy with new teachers

Welties' new staff members all looked ready to bear the weight and responsibility of teaching. They are, apart from parents, the main source of knowledge and values for children.

On Friday, 31 January the Northsider caught up with the brand-new teaching stock from Weltevreden Park Primary.

Teachers play a significant role in the upliftment and transformation of our society and communities at large.

“Teaching is a noble profession that requires passion, commitment, tolerance, perseverance, character and the dedication to make a difference in the lives of our learners,” said school principal James van Dyk.

One could not help but notice the level of understanding among the new staff and the learners, which clearly indicates that these young professionals understand the role of educators.

That role is to observe children carefully, listen to their questions and their stories, discover what interests them and then provide them with opportunities to explore these interests further.

Grade 2 teacher, Zamalwandle Duma said, “I am so excited about the journey of developing young eager minds and I believe that children should be set free to lead the development of the learning environment.”
