Golden Drifters welcomes a women’s team
As a new product in the team, I want to help these young women secure professional contracts so that they could start earning an income.
Golden Drifters Football Club is proud to announce that they will be fielding a women’s team in the upcoming season as part of their growth plan and to empower women in the community.
The club already has a team of boys that compete in the Local Football Association (LFA) and SAB League.
According to the Club’s President, Proud Shoko, the Golden Drifters women’s team head coach will be the former University of Johannesburg (UJ) player, Keitumetse Tshuma who is no stranger to the game.
Keitumetse brings a wealth of experience to the team as she has played in most divisions of the growing women’s soccer scene in South Africa.
“As a new product in the team, I want to help these young women secure professional contracts so that they could start earning an income. It’s not going to be easy but with hard work and dedication all is possible,” Keitumetse said.
Golden Drifters fully supports the new team and has committed to fighting gender-based violence and woman abuse in the country.
The club’s Deputy President, Fannie Dlamini said, “This women’s team will upgrade the brand of the club. We believe in giving back to the community in many ways.”
