Budget holidays can be fun
Once you define exactly what you want out of your travels, you can focus on how to best to achieve it.
Coming closer to the holiday, some of us might have decided that the best option is to spend it on a tight budget.
That can be hard to stick to as during in the holidays we all like to treat ourselves to all sort of things that we were not able to during the year. Some may even want to treat their your family to a nice getaway.
Here is some easy tips for a pleasant budget holiday:
• Decide on a destination that would fall within your budget. Choose a lesser-known destination with a similar atmosphere that the more expensive version.
• Budget for fuel expenses to get there and to return. Public transportation is also a great option in most cases because it’s inexpensive and it gives you a more local perspective. A simple search on the internet for public transportation in the city you’re going to should give you an idea of how much tickets cost. Also factor in taxi fares if you think you might need one from the airport or within the city.
• Check the daily flight specials
• Before you start leafing through brochures or browsing online, you first have to define your travel priorities. If you’re not willing to accept anything but a top-shelf experience, you’re probably going to have to save up before you splurge. On the other hand, if your main priorities are to experience a different culture, learn more about history, or even just take a few days to relax, you are likely to accomplish such goals on the cheap. Common priorities include:
– Experiencing a different culture
– Relaxing
– Trying new foods
– Visiting a specific location, such as a beach or a historic site
– Learning something new
Once you have defined exactly what you want out of your travels, you can focus on how to best achieve it. Decide what you are willing to spend on what activity and work from there
• Set a travel budget to avoid getting tempted by cheap fares, online hotel reviews, and various attractions as you could end up overspending without realising it. By looking over your current personal budget and taking your savings, fixed expenses, and variable costs into consideration, you can see where you have a little wiggle room (if any) for a vacation.
• Budget-friendly ideas to enjoy on vacation:
– Tour your local town or one nearby town. They may have exciting landmarks or activities suitable for a very low budget but a very high enjoyment rate.
– Travel regionally if you can’t afford a flight or a trip to exotic destinations. It can be just as satisfying as visiting another country.
– House-sitting is one of the most common and budget-friendly vacations while looking after a gorgeous house at the beach without paying for accommodation, and helping out the family by looking after their house and pets, if they have.
Saving that extra cent during the holidays makes your 40-week January much easier. A budget holiday can be exciting and memorable!
