Care bags to make a difference

Paula aims to make 300 care kit bags for sexual abuse victims which will be handed over to rape crisis centres that deal with the victims directly after the incident.

Together We Can Make A Difference founder, Paula Potgieter, has added a new project to her long list of charity projects.

After completing the care packs project which consisted of crocheted bags, socks and beanies, she wasted no time in spearheading a new project during which she aims to make 300 care kit bags for sexual abuse victims to be handed over to rape crisis centres that deal with the victims directly after the incident.

“The rate of sexual violence against women, children (boys and girls) and infants in South Africa is among the highest in the world. Another issue with sexual violence against minors in in this country, is the sexual abuse and harassment that is reportedly occurring in schools. Sexual violence is the use of force or manipulation to get someone to engage in unwanted sexual activity without their consent,” Paula explained.

She said the following items are needed to fill the care bags. For women: bar soap; deodorants; underwear (all sizes); facecloth; toothpaste; toothbrush; sanitary pads; packets of sweets and more. For children: exclude sanitary towels but include everything else and add toys.
