A marathon for the oupas and grannies
Paramedics were on standby and walked with some of the residents, this was just a safety precaution to make the event as safe as possible.
St Michael’s Village Retirement Centre in Weltevreden Park held their annual St Michael’s Marathon at their premises on Saturday 28 September.
The senior citizens were all ready and geared up at the starting point and were cheered on by the staff and some family members.
The Village’s residents – some in wheelchairs, others using walkers – put up an Olympic spectacular that saw them going around the block in some impressive times.
Paramedics were on standby and walked with some of the residents, although merely as a safety precaution.
Some walked with their pets and just enjoyed the opportunity to stretch their legs and cheer on the senior citizens of St Michael’s.
After the marathon, everybody was invited to a great get-together at the social centre on the retirement village premises.
