Today in history: SABC personality Nic Swanepoel dies
Swanepoel, a qualified teacher, worked at the SABC for a period of 33 years before he retired in 1995.
SA radio broadcaster and TV newsreader Nic Swanepoel passed away on 29 September 1998 after suffering a stroke. He was born in Johannesburg.
He wrote matric in 1958 in Vanderbijlpark, trained as teacher and then joined the South African Broadcasting Cooperation (SABC).
Swanepoel worked at the SABC for a period of 33 years before he retired in 1995.
During his flourishing career, he was awarded numerous prizes for his outstanding radio drama scripts.
After passing away, his obituary was published in Beeld, on 30 September 1998.
